Law Minister's search committee set up to shortlist next CEC

The Law Ministry set up a search committee headed by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal with the Finance and DoPT Secretaries on 17 January 2025 to shortlist five officers for CEC, the first CEC selection under the Act. Previously the senior-most EC was usually elevated.
