Anup Chandra Pandey joins as Election Commissioner

Anup Chandra Pandey began as Election Commissioner on 8 June 2021, appointed by the executive; his term was set to end on 14 February 2024 on reaching 65.

Dates are from the tenure table in the Supreme Court's Anoop Baranwal judgment (paragraph 52), which records the executive-only convention in force until 2 March 2023: the President appointed on the Prime Minister's advice, usually a serving or retired Secretary-rank civil servant, and the senior-most EC was elevated to CEC. The table's columns are garbled in the Indian Kanoon text; individual gazette notifications were not opened.
