Gyanesh Kumar named CEC and Vivek Joshi named EC

The President appointed EC Gyanesh Kumar as the 26th CEC and Haryana Chief Secretary Vivek Joshi as Election Commissioner on the recommendation of the Modi-Shah-Gandhi committee; the Law Ministry notification came late on 17 Feb 2025. Both took charge on 19 Feb 2025. Kumar is the first CEC chosen under the 2023 Act.
