The Personnel Ministry appointed Gyanesh Bharti, IAS (AGMUT 1998), then Additional Secretary in the Women and Child Development ministry, as Deputy Election Commissioner at Additional Secretary rank. In the same reshuffle Hirdesh Kumar (AGMUT 1999) was made CEO of Natgrid.
Indian Masterminds reports a gazette notification making the appointment effective 1 Sep 2025. The source does not say Hirdesh Kumar was a Deputy Election Commissioner; that should be sourced separately before it is stated.
