Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury dissented: Recorded dissent on procedure: 212 names sent the night before and a six-name shortlist eight to ten minutes before the meeting. He said he had nothing against the two appointees.
An analysis argued this dissent differs from past ones: in 2009 CEC N Gopalaswami recommended removing EC Navin Chawla, which the government rejected; in 2019 EC Ashok Lavasa sought recording of his minority MCC views. Here, it said, the two-member majority recorded that decisions were taken without them.
