The DoPT issued an order returning DEC Sanjay Kumar to the AGMUT cadre before his tenure ended in January 2027, on personal grounds, after an ECI proposal dated 19 August 2026. It came four weeks after Garg's 28 July order removing him from IT oversight, an order the two Election Commissioners set aside on 30 July.
The order was not found. No report links the repatriation to the internal dispute, and none of the officials has commented.
