Rajya Sabha passes bill after opposition walkout; opposition amendments negatived

The Rajya Sabha passed the bill with the government's amendments after a reply by Law Minister Meghwal, who said the Commission would continue to work independently. Opposition amendments were negatived and opposition members walked out; Congress MP Randeep Surjewala called the bill manifestly arbitrary. The BJD supported it.
