Supreme Court records how Goel's appointment was compressed into one day

In Anoop Baranwal v. Union of India, the Constitution Bench set out the file history of Goel's appointment and said appointing officers who cannot serve the six-year term defeats the law's purpose and undermines the Commission's independence. It directed that, until Parliament legislated, the PM, the Leader of Opposition and the CJI would advise on appointments. It did not set aside Goel's appointment.
