The Reporters' Collective reported that the Commission shared voter data including photographs with the Telangana government, which used private firms for a 2019 pensioner verification system, contrasting this with the CEC's stated reason for not releasing polling footage: voters' privacy.
The Commission had not responded to written queries by publication, per the outlet. A further search for any later ECI response or rebuttal to this story found none.
