Supreme Court directs West Bengal to ensure officers report for SIR duty
In the West Bengal SIR proceedings, the Supreme Court directed the State to ensure that officers assigned to the Commission for the Special Intensive Revision actually report for duty, after complaints of officers not showing up. This order preceded, and set up, the Court's fuller 20 February 2026 direction deploying judicial officers including retired judges.

Court hands West Bengal's flagged voters to judicial officers for decision
Citing a trust deficit between the state government and the Commission, the Supreme Court ordered that the eligibility of West Bengal electors flagged by the Commission's logical-discrepancy check be decided by judicial officers. About 700 judicial officers from West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha decided 60.06 lakh cases, ordering 27.16 lakh deletions.
