The Commission suspended Mohammed Mohsin, a 1996-batch Karnataka-cadre IAS officer posted as general observer in Sambalpur, Odisha, saying his checking of Prime Minister Modi's helicopter breached its instructions on SPG protectees. On 25 April 2019 the Bangalore bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal stayed the suspension; the Commission then revoked it but barred him from election duty and recommended disciplinary action for dereliction of duty.
Deccan Herald's 18 April report says the suspension came on Wednesday night (17 April); its 25 April report says 16 April. Congress criticised the suspension, saying the rule cited did not exempt the PM's vehicle from search. Final outcome of the CAT case not found.
