The Commission's press note ECI/PN/23/2019 announced the general election to the 17th Lok Sabha along with assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. It put the electorate at about 900 million, up more than 84 million from 2014, and the number of polling stations at about 10.36 lakh. The Model Code of Conduct took effect on announcement.
