A Congress dossier on CEC Gyanesh Kumar, as reported by Newslaundry, claimed that a vigilance probe linked to his time as Kerala PWD Secretary, opened after the chief project manager of a Malaysian road contractor died in November 2006, had stalled. No official finding against Kumar has been made public: replying to a Newslaundry RTI request, Kerala's Vigilance Department said an enquiry into alleged misappropriation across various projects had been conducted and closed after no irregularities were found.
The dossier itself was not opened and its date is not given; the entry is dated to the Newslaundry report (14 Mar 2026), which says Rahul Gandhi's aides looked into the case from August 2025. Newslaundry says public records do not show whether any note named a PWD officer; an unnamed departmental source called the enquiries an 'eyewash'. No finding against Kumar is reported anywhere. Newslaundry says it sent Kumar a questionnaire; an assistant said DG (Media) Ashish Goyal would respond on his behalf, and no response was received by publication. The Vigilance reply, as reported, is the only official response found.
